When you arrive you will be directed to the car park, which is also the start field, so there can be no excuses about using valuable energy getting from the car to the start!
The Course. The first 2 miles or so are on road, which should allow the faster runners to get some fresh air ( although Steve is thinking of leading the race round on a bike, so the air might not be all that fresh! ). The route then heads inland across some arable fields and through a small wooded area before rejoining the highway and back into the village past the first water station. From here you will run through the scenic and peaceful nature reserve (apart from all the panting) and on through a farm yard, down some public footpaths and past the Roecliffe Business Centre. You will continue on flat, fast roads for 2 miles or so, to the second water station, before the drag up to Jubilee Mills. The last mile and a half or so are downhill or flat. You will then collapse into the arms of your loved ones (or the paramedics) at the village hall finish. Job Done!!
Kids Race. The free kids race will start at 11.05am from the same place as the main race. It consists of a short dash, 400m or so, along the field and all finishers will receive a medal. Perfect for tiring the little monkeys out while Mum or Dad are running.
Other stuff. The prizegiving will be held in the village hall as soon as we have collated the times of the leading runners. There will be loads of grub on offer, all homemade and lovely. Maybe a BBQ if you're lucky. Then there is the pub just opposite, as well as stalls selling fresh local produce, and our own, fresh, free range eggs. Hows that for instant recovery food!
So. there you have it! A nice 10 mile run through some of Yorkshires finest countryside. A proper village event. We look forward to meeting you on the day. Steve and the gang.
